Emergency relief

Over two decades the Russian Orthodox Church has been actively developing various forms of social service. An important part of this service is help to people affected by emergencies.

The Russia Round Table (RRT) is actively involved in this work. With the blessing of the Russian Orthodox Church’s leadership, the RRT since 1994 has prepared and implemented a number of emergency relief programs, operating under the Department for External Church Relations, Moscow Patriarchate and in cooperation with international Christian organizations.

Specifically, such programs are implemented in cooperation with the Inter-Christian Alliance “Action by Churches Together» (ACT). Alliance is a longstanding partner of the Russian Orthodox Church in emergency relief in various regions of Russia and abroad.

Implementation of emergency programs encountered support and appreciation of the beneficiaries, local and federal authorities, clergy and diocesan bishops in the regions, as well as of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
